The ancient Hebrew word “shua” (שוע) carries a weight of meaning far beyond simple riches. Delving into its roots reveals a powerful image of care, protection, and deliverance, much like a devoted shepherd tending to their flock.
Gesenius’s Lexicon offers several key definitions for “shua”:

• (1) To cry out, to implore help, to ask for aid: This speaks to a vulnerability and a need for a deliverer.
• (2) To be rich, wealthy, opulent: This points to abundance and provision.
• (3) To be freed from danger and distress: This highlights rescue and liberation.
• (4) To be liberal, noble: This suggests generosity and a high standing.
  The Ancient Hebrew Lexicon by the Ancient Hebrew Research Center further illuminates the meaning by breaking down its components. The parent root, “sha” (שע), combines the letters shin (ש), representing teeth and thus devouring or destruction, and ayin (ע), representing the eye. Together, “sha” paints a picture of a “destroyer watches.” Adding the letter uau/waw (ו), which signifies a tent peg or hook used for securing and also means “to add” or “and,” forms the child root “shua” (שוע).
  From this, we can derive related concepts:
• Delight (verb): The shepherd watches over, cares for, and finds joy in his sheep.
• Cry (verb): To call out from a burden, seeking help.
• Rich (noun): Affluence, but also the careful watching over of one’s possessions.
  Imagine a shepherd, diligently watching the flock and the surrounding landscape, ever vigilant for danger. When a predator approaches, the shepherd acts as a destroyer, protecting the vulnerable sheep. And when the sheep are in distress and cry out, the shepherd is there to deliver them to safety.

V’hayah, y’viyaka YHWH Eloheyka el ha’aretz asher atah ba shamah l’rishtah v’nathatah, et hab’raka al Har Gerizym, v’et haq’lalah al Har Eyval ~ “ And it shall be, when YHWH Eloheyka shall bring thee unto the land wither thou goest to possess it, that thou shalt give the blessing from upon Mount Gerizym, and the curse from upon Mount Eyval.”

Between Mount Gerizym and Mount Eyval is a small valley. The valley is about three miles long, but so narrow that it is said a man’s voice can be heard across it. Through this narrow strait, following Yehoshua ben Nun, all of the nation of Yisrael had to pass, if they wished to enter the Land of Promise. As they did, they all paused to hear the blessings and the curses they would now be subject to as YHWH’s chosen people, according to the Torah. The conditions under which they would receive either the blessing or the curse were very clearly stated: “For ye are to cross over the Yarden to go into possess the land which YHWH Eloheykem giveth you, and ye shall possess it, and dwell therein. And ye shall observe to do all the statutes and judgments which I give to you this day.” It was through this narrow passageway that the people of Yisrael crossed over from the wilderness into a new life with YHWH—and it was the only way.

About 1,400 years later, another Yehoshua—our blessed Messiah—came out of his own time of trial in the wilderness and sat upon a mountain not far from Gerizym and Eyval. He also taught the people following Him about the blessings and curses for doing excellent deeds or evil ones, according to the Torah—and then He did a new thing: He elevated the standard of righteousness for His followers to a level that the curses could no longer even reach. In effect, He commanded them to walk in such a state of perfection, grace and love, that they would be above the simple commands of Torah, and thereby no longer subject to its penalties. He did not do away with the Torah in order to achieve this state of grace and perfection, but rather He brought it into its fullness—to completion. He said to them: “Do not think that I came to destroy the Torah or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy, but to complete.” Yehoshua then compared The Way into the kingdom of YHWH to a narrow passage, a way similar to the one between Mount Gerizym and Mount Eyval which led into the Land of Promise. He said, “Enter in through the narrow gate, because the gate is wide and the way is broad that leads to destruction, and there are many who enter in through it. But the gate is narrow and The Way that leads to life is difficult, and there are few who find it.” Finally, He stated the condition under which His followers would enter into the kingdom of YHWH and all of its blessings. He said, “Not everyone who says to me ‘Master, Master,’ shall enter into the kingdom of YHWH, but he who is doing the desire of my Father in the heavens.

The Father has already clearly stated His desire time and again throughout the pages of scripture, that His people should follow The Way that He has prescribed for them. It is by this narrow Way that the followers of Messiah must pass, keeping the commands of YHWH in their fullness and having the testimony of Yehoshua, in order to crossover from death and curses to everlasting life and blessings with them—and it is still the only way.

The word “Torah” means teaching or instruction. Simply put, the five books of Moshe are basically divided into two distinct kinds of teachings: Aggadic and Halakhic. Aggadah is akin to teaching in the form of stories or parables. Halakah is teaching of method in clear-cut rules and laws. Both are required for complete understanding of a concept in scripture.

Nearly the entire book of B’reishyth is composed of aggadic teachings. Parshath Vayyeishev is, in its entirety, an instruction about contrasting personalities. Even the account of Yehudah and Tamar, which some say is a spurious insertion or simply an “interlude,” was carefully placed at this point in Torah to give an aggadic example of this theme: the difference between righteous and unrighteous behavior.

Some people might mistakenly think that Yehudah did right by trying to shield his son Shelah from the same fate as his two brothers. Torah comes to show that this was, instead, a lack of faith in YHWH which was ultimately accounted to Yehudah as unrighteousness. When he learned he was the father of her son, he said: “She is more righteous than I; forasmuch as I gave her not to Shelah, my son.” He should have trusted YHWH and sent Shelah to raise up seed for his dead brother, according to the commandment.

The rest of the brothers of Yoseph demonstrated unrighteous behavior, as well. In their envy and hate, they determined to do away with him, hoping to thwart the prophecies YHWH spoke through him, to their own gain. That this was on their minds is evident in the sarcastic words: “Behold, this lord of dreams cometh.” They, too, should rather have trusted YHWH and His expressed will for their lives, rather than taking matters into their own hands.Yoseph is the sole contrasting personality in this parasha. He alone behaved righteously, correctly understanding that his faith in YHWH was paramount, and insisting upon doing what was right at all times, regardless of what it might cost him personally. The psalmist states this concept thusly: “YHWH, who does sojourn in your tent? Who does dwell in your set-apart mountain? He who walks blamelessly and does righteousness and speaks the truth in his own heart… he who swears to his own hurt and does not change.”

Yoseph was willing to swear even to his own hurt. Furthermore, he understood that any compromise he might make with unrighteousness would ultimately be more than a trespass against another man, and would be sin against YHWH Himself, as he said, “And how can I perform this great evil and sin against Elohym?” Or as the psalmist says: “Against You, You alone, have I sinned, and done evil in Your eyes; that You may be proven righteous in Your words, and clear in Your judgment.”

This aggadic teaching adds a dimension to the lesson that a set of halakhic rules alone could not attain. Moreover, men have a tendency to find ways around the strict letter of the law, but the lesson from a parable is unavoidable and less easy to circumvent. The lesson in Parshath Vayyeishev is clear: Yoseph is an example of a real man, and righteous in the eyes of YHWH. In contrast, his brothers were not. Implicit in this is a question Torah is asking of you—which one will you be? May YHWH bless you with the strength to always choose righteousness.

  Who should possess the land of Israel? Christian evangelicals say it should be the descendants of Abraham. They point to the Old Testament and claim that God gave this land forever to the descendants of Abraham and that God demands they and they alone own the land.

  To the Christian evangelical, this means the Jews. Yes, it is the Jews who own this land, and it is their land forever.

  In 2008, Russian archaeologist Dmitry Vasilyev unearthed Itil, the long lost capital of the Kingdom of Khazaria. New DNA science proves that today’s “Jews” come from Khazaria and are not the seed of Abraham.

  The Jews, then, according to Christian evangelicals, are the descendants of Abraham, his seed.

  DNA Science Confounds the Common Wisdom

  There is only one problem. And it is a huge one. Science proves those who call themselves “Jews” are not Jews!DNA Science has confounded the Christian evangelicals by proving conclusively that most of the people in the nation of Israel and in World Jewry are not the descendants of Abraham.

  Those living today who profess to be “Jews” are not of the ancient Israelites, and they are not the seed of Abraham. In fact, the new DNA research shows that the Palestinians actually have more Israelite blood than do the “Jews!”

  The nation of Israel today is populated with seven and half million imposters.

  The “Jews” Are Not Jews But Are Khazarians

  Dr. Eran Elhaik, geneticist researcher at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, found that today’s “Jews” originated from Khazaria and not Israel. They are not the seed of Abraham.

  The newest DNA science finding is from Dr. Eran Elhaik (“a Jew”) and associates at the McKusick-Nathans Institute of Genetic Medicine, Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. In research accepted December 5, 2012 and published by the Oxford University Press on behalf of the Society of Molecular Biology and Evolution, it was found that the“Khazarian Hypothesis” is scientifically correct.What exactly is the “Khazarian Hypothesis?” Simply stated, it holds that the Jewry genome is a mosaic of ancestries which rise primarily out of the Khazars.

  Jews are Khazars, not Israelites.

  The “Jews” of America, Europe, and Israel are descendants not of Father Abraham but of King Bulan and the people of ancient Khazaria. Khazaria was an amalgam of Turkic clans who once lived in the Caucasus (Southern Russia) in the early centuries CE. These Turkic peoples were pagans who convertedto Judaism in the eighth century. As converts, they called themselves “Jews,” but none of their blood comes from Israel.

  Geneticists report that less than 2% of “Jews” living in Israel are actually Israelites.

  Later, the “Jews” (Khazars) emigrated, settling in Russia, Hungary, Poland, Germany, and elsewhere in Europe. As “Jews,” the Khazars then left the European nations in 1948 and settled the fledgling, new nation of Israel.The people of Israel are not the seed, nor the ancestors, of Abraham. They call themselves “Jews,” but in fact, DNA science shows them to be Khazars. They say they are “Jew,” but they are not.

  “There are no blood or family connections among the Jews,” said Dr. Elhaik in an interview with Haaretz, Israel’s daily newspaper. “The various groups of Jews in the world today do not share a common genetic origin. Their genome is largely Khazar.”

  God Did Not Give the Land to the

  Thus, when Prime Minister Netanyahu says, “God gave this land to our Israelite forefathers,” he is absolutely wrong. There are no Israelite forefathers of today’s “Jews.” When today’s “Jews” say they should possess the land because they are Israelites and are the seed of Abraham, they are mistaken.

  The “Jews” are in Israel for one reason and one reason only: Because the United States, in 1948, recognized the nation of “Israel” and has since funded and protected it. God’s Word has nothing to do with it.

  God’s Word, the Holy Bible, prophesied that in the last days imposters would erroneously and falsely claim to be “Jews.” These imposters would, the Bible told us, persecute their enemies and especially the Christians. But God would have his revenge:

  “Behold, I will make them of the Synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; Behold I will make them to come and worship at thy feet and know that I have loved thee.” (Revelation 3:9)

  Do the “Jews” (Khazars) not do exactly as our God prophesied? Do they not persecute the Palestinians and defile the land, claiming they are its original inhabitants? This, even though theirproven ancestors, the Khazars, never set foot in the Middle East and are not the seed of Abraham?

  My thanks to Dr. Eran Elhaik of Johns Hopkins University and to his associates. You have performed a valuable service with your DNA research, both to Christianity and to world understanding. Elhaik’s research confirms earlier DNA studies, especially the work of Dr. Ariella Oppenheim of Hebrew University, who likewise found, in 2001, that the “Jews” came from the Khazars rather than the Israelites. Dr. Oppenheim even found that some of the Palestinians have the chromosomes proving they are “Cohen,” related to the ancient Israelites who worked in the Synagogue and Temple.

  Where, and Who, Are the Seed of Abraham?

  I ask my evangelical Christian friends: What will you do now? Will you heed what God said, in Revelation 2 and 3, about “them which say they are Jews and are not?” Will you accept modern DNA science as legitimate and valuable in proving the truth of God’s Word?

  Or will you, dear Christian friend, walk right on by, dismissing what both God and science have informed you?

  God said that the seed of Abraham would inherit the land. Therefore, we must—absolutely must—in light of the DNA evidence, ask ourselves: Where, and who are the seed of Abraham?

  We know that Netanyahu and the people who now inhabit Israel have no claim to the land. They are interlopers, false pretenders. But there is a true and legitimate Chosen People of God. In fact, the scriptures had it right all along. The answer is found in Galatians 3:29. Read it for yourself:

  “And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise.”

  So, if you belong to Jesus our Lord, you are “Abraham’s seed,” regardless of your physical race. You are overcomers, and Revelation 21:7 promises, “He that overcometh shall inherit all things.” This is the great secret that every true Christian knows.

  God is not a racist. The Great Commission extends to every race and ethnicity. We who love Jesus are His Chosen People, and we have the promise first given to Abraham way back in Genesis.

  Know this, and you will forever be greatly blessed. And that, dear friends is the promise given Abraham and his seed.

• Kabbalah has many different ways of being spelled in English. It can be as you have spelled it, or one of the following: Kaballah, Qabalah, or Cabalah.Kabbalah developed between the 6th and 13th centuries among Jews in Babylonia, Italy, Provence, and Spain. The word Kabbalah means “to receive” and refers to revelation from God received by Jews and passed to succeeding generations through oral tradition. The word was first used by mainstream Judaism but later came to refer to those who believed that only a select few were given the secret knowledge from God as to the “true” meaning of Scriptures.  Kabbalah uses occultic practices and is considered to be a cult. 

  Kabbalah resembles closely some of the beliefs held by the Greek Gnostics in that both groups held that only a select few were given deeper understanding or knowledge. Also, Kabbalah teaches that emanations from God did the work of creation rather than creation being directly from God. With each descending emanation, the emanation became further away from God. The final emanation took the personal form of angels. This would be like God created a lesser god, and that one then created a lesser god, and this kept happening until the end result were angels. This directly contradicts God’s revelation of Himself in the Bible. In the Bible, God teaches that He is both separate from all of His creation and yet is directly accessible by those who come to Him through Jesus Christ.

   

  Kabbalah does hold to the inspiration of Scripture, but does not seek the plain meaning of Scripture. The Kabbalah approach is mystical and very subjective, using such things as numerology to find “hidden” meaning. Through this method, almost any teaching that one desires could be “found” in Scripture. This goes against the very heart of communication. God provided Scripture that He might communicate with mankind and teach humanity of Himself. It is obvious that Scripture is meant to be taken at face value and Not mystical interpretation. This can be demonstrated by fulfilled prophecy. God said something would happen, and it happened as He said it would. The greatest example of this is the fulfillment of the prophecies concerning the first coming of Jesus Christ. The were hundreds of verses referring to His coming, and they were fulfilled literally (Isaiah 7:14; 9:6; Micah 5:2; Isaiah 53. This is why the Bible should be interpreted literally or normally.

   

  Kabbalah even has a pantheistic characteristic. Pantheism is the idea that God and His creation are one. This of course is not what God has told us in the Bible. God created all that exists from nothing (the Hebrew word “bara”). Kabbalah says that creation is one of God’s emanations – this is the pantheistic quality that Kabbalah has.

   

  Of course I do not know why you have asked this question (what is Kabbalah?), but if you are seeking to know God and have a personal relationship with Him, look no further that Jesus Christ and the Bible. Jesus is God in the flesh, and He came to die for every person’s sins. If an individual trusts in Christ — that He is God (John 1:1-3) and paid for sin (Romans 8:3) — then that person is forgiven and becomes a child of God (John 1:12).

• SATANISTS CHAMPION THE KABBALAHIn the midst of this wishful fervor, the infamous Kabbalist Sabbatai Zevi [4] announced in Smyrna in 1666 that he was the Messiah. Over a million Jews worldwide became his followers.   Conversion to Islam was a bit over the top for many rabbis who excommunicated the Sabbateans. However, a core of followers converted with him.[5]

  Rabbi Martin Antelman believes an unknown number of Sabbatai’s followers returned to the mainstream fold of Judaism and remained secret practitioners of the cult.

  The Nobel Prize winning Yiddish storyteller Isaac Bashevis Singer recounted legends among pre-Holocaust Jews in Poland of entire villages that succumbed to these Satanic Kabbalists. His novel “Satan in Goray” is devoted to this subject.

The Messianic Jewish calendar typically includes both Jewish and Christian holidays, as well as events that are significant to the history and theology of the movement.

Some of the major Jewish holidays observed by Messianic Jews include:

• Rosh Hashanah: the Jewish New Year, which is observed in the fall and marks the beginning of the High Holy Days.
• Yom Kippur: the Day of Atonement, which is observed ten days after Rosh Hashanah and is a time for reflection and repentance.

Many seniors will eventually need to move to an assisted living facility because they can no longer take care of themselves. It will likely fall on their adult children to identify the signs that indicate it’s time for a change, so it’s important they know what to look out for.

Recognizing when a senior would be safer and happier in an assisted living facility doesn’t have to be a traumatic event, and I’d like to help ease some of the stress that comes with this big life change.

We at Sabbath Keepers Fellowship & Prison Ministry know that you in the body of Messiah have many skills and gifts. This year we badly need your prayers and help. What we have been unable to do, you probably can.

Every year we purchase thousands of dollars worth of matzah, horseradish, grape juice, and pay high printing costs for the Haggadah (Passover Seder service booklet) we send to our inmate members in prison for their Passover celebrations. We have tried many ways to lower the cost of these items, with little success. We are hoping one you, our brothers and sisters out there, can help us do better.

Currently, we are paying these unit prices for each item:

~Box of Matzah (16oz./14 pieces) – $1.66
~Grape Juice (10 oz. plastic) –  $0.60
~Horseradish Packet (single serving) –  $0.22
~Haggadah Booklet (8.5”x11” folded) – $1.60
~Two Gallon Plastic Bag (zip-lock) – $0.12

Each package includes: one box of matzah, two bottles of juice, one horseradish packet, and one Haggadah, plus a bag for each and packaging materials. The Haggadah is 20 pages of plain white paper and black ink only, with an additional #110 weight heavy cover sheet, which folded in half and stapled is a 42 page booklet.

Our shipping expenses equal 60% of our total cost per inmate for the packages, which is just insane. It brings the net cost of the packages to an average of $12 each. We have a few volunteers here in Texas who deliver to a few local prisons, but most are going out by USPS. The containers range from a single package up to nearly a hundred of them, depending on the needs and requests of individual prisons. If anyone knows how we can save on shipping, or is willing to deliver a few of them for us, please let us know.

We know that someone out there is aware of or can help us find better prices than these. If you know of someplace or someone that can save us money on these items, we will be able to send out more packages to needy inmates this year. Or, if you have no contacts to help with this, give it a try on your own. We have tried our hardest to improve these numbers, and have failed. We have tried diligently to solicit more donations, but folks are just not opening their wallets this year, so it seems our only avenue is to get some savings.

What would you do? There are nearly two million people in US jails and prisons. About 3,000 of those men and women are members of Sabbath Keepers Fellowship & Prison Ministry. We minister to all prisoners who come to us and keep the seventh-day Sabbath. If you or a loved one were in prison, and it was Passover, you would probably contact SKF for help in keeping the festival.

Among many other services to Sabbath-keeping inmates, we operate this nation’s oldest and largest prison Passover Package Program. It was created in 2011 and is designed to enable Sabbath and festival observant inmates across the USA to keep just the most basic of scriptural commands concerning Passover while in prison. Over the last few years, we have provided nearly 11,000 Passover packages to hundreds of prisons across the nation. But, we could and should have done many more than that. It is only for lack of funds that we cannot provide these packages for all inmates of our faith.  And the program is in trouble this year.

In one respect, it is going great – we have tons of requests for our packages, which contain matzah, juice, bitter herb and a Seder booklet. In another respect, it is going quite poorly – at present, we only have $1,000 of the $12,000 necessary to fill the requests of all our inmate members who have asked for one, and we need to make our final purchase of supplies within the next four weeks.

But why should you give to charity, and especially one that serves prisoners? Because it is a commandment of our Father in heaven (Leviticus 25:35, Deuteronomy 15:7-8). Is that the only reason? As if we need another! In fact, there is another reason. It is righteousness to you. In Hebrew, the word for righteousness is “Tzedek.” A similar word is used of a righteous person, which is “Tzadik.” The common Hebrew word for the giving of charity is “Tzedekah.” In Hebrew thought, the giving of charity is one of the highest forms of righteousness. In His Sermon on the Mount, our Messiah agrees and had this to say about righteousness:

“Let your light so shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven… For I say to you, that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Scribes and Pharisees, you shall not enter the kingdom of heaven.”

He also spoke specifically about the necessity of everyone ministering to those in prison, telling us that if we neglect our incarcerated brothers and sisters, it will not go well for us in the end:

“He shall then also say to those on the left hand, ‘Go away from Me, accursed ones, into the everlasting fire prepared for the adversary and his messengers, for I was hungry and you gave Me no food, I was thirsty and you gave Me no drink, I was a stranger and you did not take Me in, was naked and you did not clothe Me, sick and in prison and you did not visit Me.’ Then they also shall answer Him, saying, ‘Master, when did we see You hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not serve You?’ Then He shall answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, in so far as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to Me.’ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment, but the righteous into everlasting life.”

Admittedly, the giving of charity to convicted criminals is not a very glorious task. It seems most people want nothing to do with it or them. There are many other more palatable expressions of giving, and so most people tend to give their tzedekah to more tasteful and high profile causes and charities. That is precisely the reason we need your help. The more acceptable charities are very well funded, and we struggle for every cent we get – which usually ends up not being enough to help all those in need of our services. Those we minister to are not some unknown people in far off countries with ways and religions foreign to you. They are your own broken and wayward brethren right here in the USA who have failed in life, and yet now are trying their best to mend their ways in order to serve our Father in heaven. We must not turn our backs on them and fail them! Our best and most perfect example in this is our blessed Messiah who ate with the tax collectors and sinners, who said that He came to heal the sick and not the healthy. He said, “Freely you have received, freely give!”  If you do not help these poor brethren of ours it is highly unlikely that anyone else will. 

It is SKF’s goal to make sure no Sabbath-keeping prisoner is forgotten at Passover. We cannot do this without your help. It is our hope that we can bring every one of our brothers and sisters in prison to our Father’s Passover table and, ultimately, into fellowship and His kingdom. Everything necessary is in place to do this service for the thousands of our brethren behind bars who have requested a Passover Package so they can fulfill the commandments of that observance, and all it needs is for you and other generous followers of Messiah to open your hearts and pocketbooks, and give so they can do so.

OUR HISTORY

Sabbath Keepers Fellowship was founded in 1996 as a home fellowship and study group having an outreach ministry to believers in prison. Donations and contributions were utilized primarily to supply bibles and teaching materials to inmates who could not otherwise afford or obtain them. At that time the ministry was quite small and localized. By 1999, the ministry’s operations were expanded and additional programs added. Sabbath Keepers boasted an ever-growing inmate membership, a monthly newsletter, book and bible giveaways, a Pen-Pal program, a national Passover Package program added in 2011, support of Sabbath worship services on various prison units in multiple states, and even some limited personal visitation to inmates by SKF volunteers. Now, through the grace of the Most-High, and because of a great need and demand in the prisons at this time, Sabbath Keepers has flourished and grown into a nationwide ministry serving over 3,000 inmates and their families in 41 states, a home-service and festival venue open to all, as well as facilitating an ever-growing social-media community of faith separate from our prison ministry efforts.

Sabbath Keepers Fellowship offers its services and support to those who seek to observe the Scriptural commandments without regard to particular denominations, race, creed, color or doctrines. We have done so for well over two decades and many thousands of men and women – your brothers and sisters in faith – have benefited through these efforts.
